UNH Telecom is your telephone company while you live on-campus. Every student living in UNH Housing has a phone line and a Personal Authorization Code (PAC), which is used to make long distance calls from your room. Voice mail services are also active in all residence hall rooms. Students may receive assistance in person at the IT Support Center located at the Dimond Academic Commons (Main Level), via telephone at 862-1030, or on the web at http://cis.unh.edu/telecom.
Personal Authorization Code New students will receive information in late summer on how to view their PAC online before arriving on campus. PACs are found within the Telecom Services area under the Webcat tab in Blackboard. By first usage of their PAC, the student is agreeing to the terms and conditions and will be responsible for all calls made with his/her code. PACs are governed by the AUP (Acceptable Use Policy for Information Technology Resources at UNH) here. Please be sure to report a lost PAC immediately to Telecom.
Local, Long Distance and International Rates Telecom does not charge taxes, fees or sur charges for using on campus phone service. The following rates apply to students when using their PAC to place calls from campus.
Local: Calls to local numbers are free. The local calling area is posted on Telecom’s web site (click on Services and Rates).
International: International rates vary by country and time period and are posted on our website (click on Services and Rates).
Students need to bring their own touchtone telephones to school. (UNH does not provide telephones for students) Each room has one activated phone connection and voicemail is available for each student. Cordless phones are not supported as they do not work well in residence halls. The use of devices which interfere with the UNH wireless data network is not permitted, for example 2.4 GHz cordless phones.
Billing Students will receive E-mail notification each month when charges have been posted to their account with the UNH Business Office. Instructions and payment options are included in this E-mail confirmation to the student. Payments are due at that time. Payable to UNH.
The fees for phone and network service are included in your Housing fee.
