Apple-A-Week: iCal

Mac OS X’s calendaring system iCal can be used to manage simple calendars or a complex group sharing multiple calendars. With Apple’s MobileMe service, calendars can be shared online to help organize your day. Calendars can be color-coded by categories such as academic classes, social groups, and weekend planning. This enables you to manage days more efficiently and accomplish more with your time. iCal is also sync-able with iPhone and iPod Touch to keep your schedule available all day long.

Apple-A-Week: I Want A Cheap Macbook!

MacBookOne of the major requirements to using a Mac computer would be actually owning one. New Macbooks released this week are faster, durable, and more green than the previous models.

New Aluminum Macbooks are more durable and have a sturdier frame, LED backlit screen, and have a buttonless touchpad.
Don’t forget… College students save $50-$100 with Apple’s Educational Discount. Visit the UNH Computer store for more Apple Pricing.

Sustainability Efforts on Campus

In the October 2008 issue of Campus Technology magazine, The University Office of Sustainability at UNH is featured in an article all about Green Construction & Technology. The Office of Sustainability has an interactive web site that informs students about energy efficiency.

UNH Chief Sustainability Officer, Tom Kelly is quoted in the article as saying, “More and more people are seeing the impact of climate change, loss of biodiversity, land use changes… and loss of community identity.”

Apple-A-Week: By David Gallant

An apple a day, keeps the doctor away, but an Apple a week can help you stay afloat of the many academic uses of the Apple computer.

As a new student contributor of UNH IT Pipeline, I will be authoring a weekly column about Apple Computers and how they can improve college life. Just because Macs are known for Graphic Arts and Multimedia, doesn’t mean they’re not great in academic areas.

A new Apple-A-Week column will debut each Friday.

Any Computers Available?

Use the interactive campus map to view available UNH cluster computers so you’re not stuck waiting in the Dimond Library just to print assignments for class.
